Azure, AWS and GCP Name Generator

Generate and validate Azure, AWS and Google Cloud (GCP) resource names locally. Check storage accounts, S3 buckets, project IDs, VMs and more.

About this tool

Generate and validate Azure, AWS and Google Cloud (GCP) resource names locally. Check storage accounts, S3 buckets, project IDs, VMs and more.

How to name Azure, AWS and Google Cloud (GCP) resources

  1. Choose Azure, AWS or Google Cloud and the exact resource type.
  2. Enter project, environment and optional region or suffix; generate a name.
  3. Review the rule check, or validate an existing name. Copy the name or download the report.

Example

Azure storage account: stappdev01. AWS S3 bucket: s3-app-dev-01. Google Cloud (GCP) project ID: prj-app-dev-01. These examples illustrate the convention, not name availability.

Supported options and limitations

Local naming checks only; no availability, cloud credentials or policy checks. Region is a label. VM profiles are conservative ASCII; EC2 Name is a tag. S3 account-regional and directory buckets are excluded.

Common questions

Does a passing name guarantee deployment?

No. Provider availability, reserved names and organization policies can still prevent creation.

Are names sent to a cloud provider?

No. Name generation and validation run on your device.

Which Azure resources are supported?

Resource groups, storage accounts, Windows and Linux VM hostname profiles, and virtual networks.

Which AWS resources are supported?

Shared-namespace general-purpose S3 buckets, EC2 Name tags, Lambda function names and IAM role names.

Which Google Cloud (GCP) resources are supported?

Project IDs, Cloud Storage buckets, Compute Engine instances and VPC networks.
