How to convert PDF to text

  1. Choose an unencrypted PDF containing selectable text.
  2. Select a page range of up to 100 pages.
  3. Extract, review and copy or download the TXT file.

Supported options and limitations

Selectable text only. Scanned PDFs without a text layer are unsupported. 20 MB per PDF and 100 pages per run. No PDF OCR or password support. Columns, tables and unusual fonts may produce imperfect reading order. Pages without a text layer are identified.

Common questions

Can it extract text from a scanned PDF?

A scan without an existing text layer needs OCR. This tool does not recognize text from PDF page images.

Will the formatting stay the same?

No. Output is plain text, with page separators rather than the original layout.
